Gainesville is known for the Gainesville Raceway
Gainesville Raceway is a Dragway about a quarter mile around Gainesville, Florida. It started operation in 1969 and very popular for hosting the remarkable NHRA’s Gatornationals event right from 1970. The very first racer to break the barrier of 300 miles per hour was Kenny Bernstein. At the track on March 20, 1992, during the qualification of the years’ Gatornationals.
Gainesville Raceway capacity is about 30,000 and it started operating in 1969 and has its Gatornational event held in 1970. Recognized as one of the fastest circuits in NHRA that has helped drivers attain the 260, 270 and 300mph runs of top fuel. As from the beginning of the race, up to eight out of 10 national records were set in professional levels during the 2000 Mac Tools NHRA Gatornationals.
